Employee income determination in Gabon is determined by the annual salary deducted by a 20% allowance divided by the family quotient.

Offboarding & Termination

Termination in Gabon requires a notice period when an employee is terminated during the contract by fault of the employee except for gross negligence. There are certain cases where the notice period can be waived, excluding serious misconduct.

The notice period for termination depends on the seniority of the employee in the organization.

  • 15 days for up to 1 year of service
  • 1 month’s notice for 1 – 3 years of service
  • 2 months’ 3 – 5 years of service
  • 4 months’ 10 – 15 years of service
  • 5 months’ 15 – 20 years of service
  • 6 months’ for 20 – 30 years of service
  • 6 months’ + 10 days extra per year of service with more than 30 years

Employees who have at least 2 years of service in the company are entitled to as severance pay for termination or resignation. The severance pay in Gabon is 20% of the average monthly salary of the last 1 year in service to the same organization.

Visa and Immigration

Applying for a visa in Gabon is required and can be processed online (e-Visa). You can submit the required document form and a passport with at least 6 months of validity. The application is 72 hours in so you cannot travel to Gabon without a processed visa. E visas are granted from 1-3 months with a single entry to 6 with multiple entries. Payment for the e-Visa is upon delivery of the e-Visa sticker.
