Offboarding & Termination

Employment in Mauritius can be terminated both by the employee and the employer. The employer can terminate the employment on substantial grounds. If the employment is terminated without any grounds, the employer must pay a severance to the employee.

After resignation/termination, both permanent employees and employees on probation must serve at least 30 days as notice.

Severance pay in Mauritius is calculated as three months’ pay for every year served at the organization.

Visa and Immigration

Non-Mauritian employees must obtain a work visa to be employed in Mauritius. Only individuals aged between twenty and sixty years are eligible for a work visa in Mauritius. Foreign employees can apply for a permanent residency permit after working in Mauritius for three years.
