An increase in international recruitment 

Between the first quarter of 2022 and the first quarter of 2024, the percentage of international accountants hired by US-based companies through Multiplier increased fourfold. 

Multiplier-generated contracts going to accountants increased four-fold

In Q1 of 2022, made up .4% of the total contracts created through Multiplier. By Q1 of 2024, accountant contracts made up 2.3% of the contracts generated through Multiplier.

Where are US-based companies hiring accountants?

US-based companies have been able to find accounting talent in the Philippines and India.

Skill-based hiring

Our data shows that US-based companies are hiring accountants in Asia and the Pacific, these regions have larger talent pools of skilled accountants.

Shifting hiring demographics

Since 2023, we’ve seen a six-fold increase in the number of accountants hired under the age of 30. Companies looking for more experienced talent might need to look farther afield.

Companies are hiring younger accountants

Before 2023, only 4% of accountants hired through Multiplier were under 30. After 2023, 24% of accounting hires were under 30.

More companies hired full-time accountants in 2023

The percentage of full-time accountant hires through Multiplier is nearly double that of freelance accountant contracts.

Deciding between permanent employees and contractors

Our data shows that while some companies are hiring freelancers to fill the gaps, hiring more permanent employees than independent contractors.
