  • Duly filled in W9 form (in the case of U.S. residents)
  • Latest financial report and bank statements (if applicable)

How to Register a Sole Proprietorship Firm in Macau

One must follow the steps to register as self-employed in Macau.

  1. Firstly, you must fill up Form M1. The form underlines information like the business owner’s name, type of identity document, business address, domicile, nature of business, expected business commencement date, etc. 
  2. Once you complete the form, sign your name at the end and get it notarized. 
  3. Subsequently, this form, along with the original identification document, must be submitted in person to one of the three locations given below:
    1. Macao Government Services Centre in Islands 
    2. The “Finanças” Building- Service Centre 2
    3. Macao Government Services Centre
  4. Once the form and identity document are submitted, the application can take up to 30 days to be processed.
  5. However, businesses must also pay the Business Tax in Macau before starting their sole proprietorship.
